The Corset
The corset is representative of the character traits which Victorian society would expect of a woman like Nora. The corset was worn to appeal to or please the male's eye. At the same time, the garment is physically restraining and causes internal damage. It confines Nora's physical body into a more desired silhouette, which is why the corset is a suitable garment to represent that part of Nora's character that is constantly trying to please her husband. While trying to please Torvald, she compromises her own intellectual and emotional well-being. Nora's character is confined, something which is established by the way Torval treats her - and she maintains this role in order to please him.... Quite similarly, the corset shapes Nora's physical body.
